I'm sad. I have gained 6 pounds the last month. Damn Korea and their delicious sweets on every corner, every way I turn.

Our cats spoon. Last night was like one big spoon. The cats between Luc and I. I wanted to get my camera, but I knew if I moved, they would move, and the moment would be ruined :D

Dear Erin: Not sure about this expression? Spooning? Howling at the Moon? Need to be informed Nannie. Learn something new everyday, right? Not much happening here, mostly rain and snow off and on. So glad you can get the hockey games Luc. Looking forward to a visit from your Mom & Dad in February.

spooning is lying on your side together with your arms around each other.

In the meantime, I used the dictionary feature on Word and I think I figured it out. I like your definition though. Also, glad I am not the only one still learning. I know that cats knead against you. Dean and Linda had a cat that liked to do this, of course since I am well endowed in the bust area, the would do this to me!!!! Need I say more. Love from Nannie

Oh Erin, I'm thinking you and Luc aren't going to be able to leave those cats behind when you come home. I'm pretty sure there's a long plane ride in their future!

Have your mom and dad told you about the fabulous dinner we all had on Tuesday night? Aunty Kathy was testing her luck on SILK FM again and won a dinner for 8 at the Wild Apple Grill at Manteo. So there was her and Uncle Dave, Aunty Jo and Uncle Moe, your mom and dad, Karen Alexander and me. What a fabulous, very exotic meal. I ate some things I never thought would pass my lips but I enjoyed it all. And you would have been impressed with Uncle David - he tried everything I think. All in all a very nice evening.

Your mom says the web cam is really cool so hopefully one day when I'm there we can give it a try and I can see you in your Korean environment.

Bye for now.
Love Aunty Janet

By three methods we may learn wisdom : First, by reflection,
which is noblest; second, my imitation, which is easiest; &
third, by experience, which is the bitterest. Confucius

Hey Erin, After I read your concern of 6 lbs I remembered this poem...but my words of wisdom are to try to move more and eat less, but remember to have fun ...after all you are there to experience it all!! Right?... personally I have been reading the Lonely Planet Guide book and can't wait to experience all the gluten free food that seems abundant in Korea!

The Month AFTER Christmas!

Twas the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
All the holiday parties had gone to my waist.

When I got on the scale there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store, less a walk than a lumber,
I'd remember the marvellous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."

As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as only I can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"

So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.

I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.

I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!
