I did it!

I braved the squatter toilet.

my hips aren't going to like it.

But accupuncture is like 5 bucks! I've got to ask Whitney where she went, becuase she's going back.

I start with my own classes on Monday, Lucas on Friday. Luc will be filling in for someone for the next week. I'm really nervous. We had training today, but we weren't on time. It wasn't our fault though because we were supposed to be picked up, but there was some miscommunication, but we made our way to the training and all was well. It was a long day. We have our lesson plans to go over this weekend. We will watch Rich (manager) teach and then we will be going at it. Eek!

I swear Luc will actually write something in here one day.

I want to sleep soo badly, but it's only ten to nine. Everything happens at night here, classes, and then everyone goes for something to eat and whatever else. Need to adjust my body for this.

pictures, just a few...

our washer! we bought soap at E-mart yesterday, that was difficult!

There's the view from our apartment, isn't it exciting?

There's Kimchi pots on the roof beside ours..

Frosted Flakes, with no Tony the Tiger, but a lion...anime!

Hah, what a tool...I mean, hey look, it's our Premier...

Our bathroom and shower all in one. Wet floors suck.
Notice the lack of oven? and drawers?

This is our living room, we have yet to get hangers, so we can't put away all our stuff, so the room is filled with our suitcases.

I know how unorganzied this post is, the pictures are this way and that, but I have no idea how to fully work this thing the way I want it to, but it's a start. Tomorrow were going to Costco with some teachers here and Bev and Rod. It's going to be a jolly time. We hope to pick up a bookshelf or nightstand, meats, etc.

Today we go to training, though we never got our schedule so we don't know when we're going to be picked up and for how long we will be gone for. I think we might be going out for a drink or something with Whitney and Neal. We've taken a liking to them, they're awesome. I'm tired, the jet lag has hit, and Lucas is coughing up a storm, in my face. And he won't take the medicine. I'm soon going to force it down his throat.

Soon we need to eat something. Eating out is super cheap, usually around 5,000 won a month. I had Bulgogi soup yesterday which is a mean soup that you dip your rice into, oh man was that fricken delicious. Luc had bimbap something and it looked good too.

OH, before I forget, the girls bathroom at the school is a $*&^ hole in the ground.
What the hell.
I'm not a squatter thank you.

We made it!

Hello everyone!

Look where we are, KOREA! I can't upload pictures just yet, becuase I'm at the school computer. We're going to watch a class today and start training tomorrow.

So In Vancouver, we met Gordon Campbell and got our picture with him so we could laugh. THe Flight to Seoul was very long, but I did get to watch Surf's Up (fricken hilarious!), The Simpson's Movie, and Hairspray. Also watched some Grey;'s Anatomy. Luc adn I were pretty antsy after sitting for eleven and a half hours.

By the way, sorry if my typing is off, there's a weird plastic covering over the keyboard, and it's throwing me off.

When we got to Seoul Airport, that's when the confusion happened. That airport is huge, and we we're really sure where we were going becuase we still had to check in for our flight to Daegu, and the airport is huge and insane. But we made it with 10 minutes to rest before boarding.

We arrived in Daegu to two people picking us up, which is good, becuase Luc and I had so much luggage, we needed the two cars. I thought I was going to die driving though. There is no road rules here is seems and no signals, no braking, eek!

Our apartment is great, apparently, we have one of the best ones. Luc broke the shower head already though. It was only taped on becuase it was cracked, but i like to blame him for it. Our bathroom is a shower, it';s connected to the sink. We need to get some cleaning supplies though becuase i know it'll be gross soon enough.

No oer, but two gas burners. That's okay, there is a couple below us who we met last night as they also teach at Luc's school, and they have an over. They also have the CUTEST KITTEN EVER who's a little hellraiser. I think I'll be fine ;)

The couple who we met last night was Whitney and Neil, from South Carolina. They were with another girl, Dahlia from Kitchener. We're already pretty friendly, so that's good. Made our first friends within an hour of being in Daegu :D

Tonight we're going to E-Mart (like Wal-Mart) with Whitney and Neil to pick up some things, though I know we're going to have to go back because there is lots to get. Going to spend some mucho dollars!

So pictures are to come, I promise!

Only a couple more days to go

Eek! Only a couple more days in Canada! Tomorrow Luc and I have to make a trip to Vancouver because the various channels to get a Teaching Visa are slow and almost useless. This has definately been a rollercoaster to get on our way to Korea. Luc and I have seen many highs and lows when it came to it. But we're now in the final stretch. I'm still not sure what to think about leaving. It doesn't really feel like I'm going anywhere special, just like I'm going back to school. But then I think about it, and I know I'm going to be quite upset at the airport. It doesn't help that Aunty Kathy gets choked up on the phone talking about it. I have waterproof mascara ready to go for Tuesday morning.
I don't really like flying. Eleven and a half hour from Vancouver to Seoul is not going to be a good thing. At least I'm going to have Luc there, and his DS ;)
I don't know what to expect when we arrive in Korea. We'll be beat, that's for sure, but then are they goign to show us everything about the apartment and area when we arrive, when i'm sure all I'll want to do is sleep? We're going to lose a day of our lives flying over there becuase of the time difference. Everything is going to be so weird.

MoonKkang English School

So, we think that we have finally found something. We accepted the position last night and are now waiting for the contract to be sent to us. This school has gotten good reviews on Dave's ESL, we get 4 weeks PAID vacation, housing, etc. Luc and I are pretty excited. Things have been tense for awhile becuase we're both frustrated it has taken this long to find a job. We will be at different schools, but they are very close to each other as one is over flow from the other. But we will be in the same apartment, which is good.
We are going to be going to Daegu, the fourth largest city in South Korea. This is good becuase it is the same city as Bev and Rod. We will not be alone! Since they have been there for a couple months, we'er counting on them to help show us around.
Hopefully, as of December 1, Lucas and I will be in South Korea looking like tacky tourists, on our way to begin a teaching career.
